My name is Tiarnan O’ Sullivan. I qualified as a medical herbalist in 2021 with the Plant Medicine School in Hollyfort, following 5 years of study during which I worked with some of the most experienced herbalists in the UK & Ireland. I now assist the Plant Medicine School as a mentor for their apprenticeship programme. I set up Mac Tíre Apothecary in 2021, a herbal medicine business rooted in a passion for wellness, medicine and nature. I am also involved in several projects for growing medicinal and aromatic plants in Ireland, and am an ordained Fear Feasa following six years of apprenticeship under Alex Duffy and Nikki Darrell.
The heart of my practice is an absolute faith and trust in nature as the source of our deepest medicine. Scientific research continues to emerge which supports the use of herbal medicine as effective for treating a wide range of issues across all demographics of human beings. But underpinning this research is thousands upon thousands of years of traditional knowledge being shared within and between cultures all around the world. Indigenous medicine people have always known that to truly heal from disease, we must approach our healing on all levels (psycho-emotional, physical & spiritual). Plant medicine works in this way, balancing the human form to facilitate true wellness.
